FRAZETTA DEATH DEALER MINI STATUE On sale September 10 6" tall, fully painted, packaged in full color box, $64.99 One of the most successful statues that Dark Horse has ever distributed is the excellent rendition of Frank Frazetta's Death Dealer as sculpted by Randy Bowen with the participation of Frank Frazetta. A limited edition of 5,000 pieces was sold out, and is now long gone. We are pleased to announce that by special arrangement with Frank Frazetta we are able to offer this classic in a miniature size at an affordable price. This miniature version stands approximately 6" tall, and retains all of the fabulous detail of the original oversize piece. It represents the first in a series of new licensed Frazetta products that Dark Horse will be producing. This is truly a piece that no collector or fan of fantasy art will want to be without. Packaged in full-color box. FRANK FRAZETTA: MAN THE ENDANGERED SPECIES BRONZE STATUE On sale August 14, 12 1/2"(H) x 18"(L) x 9"(W), mounted on a deluxe base (not pictured), and limited to 50 statues worldwide, $1,800 Dark Horse Comics is proud to announce a very bronze sculpture inspired by one of Frazetta's most significant paintings, Man the Endangered Species. Which originally appeared as cover art to author L. Ron Hubbard's classic novel Battlefield Earth. The piece depicts a savage alien confronting one of the last human heroes, Jonnie Goodboy Tyler and his partner and mate Chrissie. The drama and dynamic tension of this savage moment, are "frozen" in time as only Frazetta can do it. The challenge of bringing this painting forward in three dimensions fell to master sculptor Jeffrey Scott, with an assist from his colleagues at Gentle Giant Studios. He captured the excitement of the original, while extrapolating hidden details as he finished the work from all angles. The results are a tour-de-force of human anatomy and science fiction vision. The sculpture was supervised and approved by both Frank Frazetta and Authors Services, Inc., which is L. Ron Hubbard's international rights agency. The Twins are the ultimate, chaotic nemeses of the last humans of Zion. They are essentially a virus inserted into The Matrix as savage berzerkers. They embody danger and evil for Neo, Trinity, Morpheus, and their crew. Since much of the data on the Twins is still under wraps, we are soliciting with images of prototypes that are significantly different from the finished products. In the final versions, the twins will have different arms and signature weaponry. The Twins are captured in exquisite detail, thanks to the participation of the actors themselves who posed for the three-dimensional computer scanning. This data was then refined through traditional sculpting and painting to arrive at a superior finished product. The Matrix busts will feature special deluxe packaging. THE MATRIX MINI-BUST RELISTS Gentle Giant Studios is once again setting a new standard for sculpted mini-busts. This new series, distributed by Dark Horse, features characters from the most influential film in decades, The Matrix. Now, two of comic's hottest creators — writer Mark Waid and artist Leinil Yu — take on that classic tale, retelling the legendary story for a new generation! SUPERMAN: BIRTHRIGHT, a 12-issue maxiseries written by Waid (KINGDOM COME, JLA) with art and covers by Leinil Yu & Gerry Alanguilan (HIGH ROADS, Wolverine), sheds new light on Superman's timeless origin tale, revealing unseen facets of the Last Son of Krypton's birth and evolution into Earth's champion. "What makes SUPERMAN: BIRTHRIGHT exciting to write is how we take nothing for granted about the legend. Why does Clark Kent wear a costume? Why THAT costume? How could you possibly meet Superman and not recognize him as Clark? And, most importantly, WHY does Superman do what he does?" Waid says in regards to the upcoming series, which kicks off with an extra-sized 40-page first issue at no extra cost. "BIRTHRIGHT isn't just a dream project — it's a Superman I promise you've never seen before and one you ABSOLUTELY never EXPECTED to see!"
