>> E-MAIL OUTAGE
________________________________________________________________
Due to some unexpected problems with our ISP (BellSouth.net), we
experienced a brief e-mail outage last night and today. Some
e-mail arrived with no problems, but other mail never made it
through to us.
If you e-mailed us between 4:00pm Sunday (December 2) and 4:00pm
Monday (December 3), you may want to re-send your e-mail message.
The problem has now been resolved, and e-mail is arriving with no
difficulty.
We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your
understanding.
>> SAVE 20% WITH PALMETTO PARTNERS
________________________________________________________________
Heroes and Dragons has joined the Palmetto Partners charity
coalition this year!
Each year, Palmetto Partners sells special discount cards to
residents of the South Carolina Midlands area (where H&D is
based). The money raised from the sale of these cards goes
directly to the Woodyard Fund, a special organization that helps
families in need pay for heat during the winter months.
Palmetto Partners cardholders enjoy a 20% discount (on *all
purchases*) at the shops of participating merchants, for a
limited time. This year's card can be used at dozens of
businesses in the greater Columbia area -- including Heroes and
Dragons!
To get your card, contact THE STATE newspaper (www.TheState.com)
or the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce
(www.ColumbiaChamber.com).
But hurry -- this year's card is good only until December 9,
2001!
(For a complete list of businesses participating in this year's
Palmetto Partners fund-raiser, visit
http://www.ov-media.com/ppc.)
>> "DARK KNIGHT STRIKES AGAIN" ON WEDNESDAY
>> REMEMBER: DRAW BATMAN, SAVE 10%
________________________________________________________________
Wednesday is the day!
The most eagerly-anticipated comics sequel since -- since --
um, wait --
The most eagerly-anticipated comics sequel *EVER* arrives at
Heroes and Dragons this Wednesday. I won't even speak its name,
because you know what it is -- even if you don't read comics,
you've heard about it.
Frank Miller.
Batman.
The sequel to the mini-series that changed comics forever.
Come on! You don't want to miss this! It all starts this week,
when the first issue arrives at Heroes and Dragons. Each issue
is $7.95, in the Prestige Format, and we know the price tag's
nothing to sneeze at.
Folks, this is an expensive comic, as comics go. But we feel it
will be worth every penny, so we're going the extra mile to get
you in on issue #1 at a cheaper price than normal. All you have
to do is draw a picture of Batman and bring it with you to the
Mega-Store between now and the time issue #2 hits the stands (in
January). With your Batman drawing, you can save 10% off the
cover price of DARK KNIGHT STRIKES BACK #1. You pay only $7.15
for the first issue of the most exciting new comic of 2001!
For those who missed them last week, here are the rules:
< 1 >
You can't draw Batman in the store. That's just no fun.
You have to draw him *before* you come and bring the
drawing with you.
Your drawing is your own personal coupon for
DARK KNIGHT STRIKES AGAIN #1.
< 2 >
*YOU* have to *DRAW* *BATMAN*.
You'd think this would go without saying, but some people
just love to be killjoys. This means that (a) you have to
be the person who drew Batman; (b) you can't just photocopy
a drawing and bring it in; and (c) the drawing must be *of*
Batman.
< 3 >
Buying multiple copies of DARK KNIGHT STRIKES AGAIN #1?
You can save on all of them with a single drawing.
However, you must bring a *new* drawing each time you come
back to the store for more copies!
< 4 >
We reserve the right to post these drawings and use them
for promotion. That means your Batman could end up on the
web site or on display in the store!
>> CALL FOR WORK, WEEK II
________________________________________________________________
The call is still out!
Chad is looking for a part-time assistant to help out with new
comics on Wednesdays, and possibly at other times during the
week. The position is 5 to 8 hours per week, mostly (if not
entirely) on Wednesday. Duties include stocking, counting, and
inventory, as well as some light lifting. Employees may be
called on to perform other jobs, as the discretion of management.
The new employee would qualify for a store discount and be
paid in store credit. We'll list you on the web site, so you
can tell all your friends you're part of the Dragon family. One
word of advice: This isn't a job for people who want to see the
comics before anyone else in town; you'll be doing more counting
than looking!
If you're interested, contact Chad at (803) 772-9198. Please be
ready to submit a resum, so we can contact you when the hiring
decision is made.
(We've heard from several interested people already, but we're
holding off on our decision until everyone has had a chance to
submit a resum. If you're interested and would like to know
more, please contact Chad at your earliest convenience.)
>> EBAY AUCTIONS RESUME ON TUESDAY
________________________________________________________________
Looking for some great deals this holiday season?
I've been keeping busy with the redesign of heroesanddragons.com,
but our regular eBay auctions will resume on Tuesday, December 4.
Be sure to click the "eBay" link at www.heroesanddragons.com
after 7:00pm Eastern Time for a brand-new round of auctions!
Good luck with your bids!
>> MORE NEXT WEEK ...
________________________________________________________________
I've bombarded you with e-mail and announcements in the past two
weeks, so we're keeping it short this time around.
Next week we'll resume our regularly scheduled features,
including a look at the "Comic Books for Sale" section on
www.heroesanddragons.com.
Until then, stay safe and have a happy holiday!
