Columbia Comicon Returns This Saturday!

South Carolina's comic convention is returning!

After a six-year absence, the Midlands' only comic book convention is coming back to Columbia. This special one-day show will be held at the Super 8 Motel & Conference Center on St. Andrews Road in Columbia. (Click here for directions.)

Special guests include:

Admission is $2 (free for kids under 6 years old).
Show hours are 10am to 4pm.

Comic Club Meets Thursday at 7:30pm

A last-minute production delay on Sgt. Rock: Hell and a Hard Place has changed our reading plans for November. Instead of the new graphic novel by Brian Azzarello and Joe Kubert, Heroes and Dragons Comic Club will be discussing Batman: Arkham Asylum by Grant Morrison and Dave McKean.

Artist McKean has said that Arkham Asylum is too ambitious, that the character of Batman can't support a serious examination of mental illness. Was McKean right? Was Arkham Asylum a misguided attempt to make Batman "relevant," or was it just ahead of its time?

You make the call at the next meeting of Heroes and Dragons Comic Club 7:30pm on Thursday, November 13.

Copies of Arkham Asylum are available now at the front counter of the H&D Mega-Store. Retail price is $14.95, but card-carrying HDCC members can pick it up for only $11.96. (HDCC members save 20% on all graphic novels, remember!)

Previews Orders Due Saturday

Orders from the latest issue of Previews (The Comics Shop's Catalog) are due by midnight on Saturday, November 15. The current catalog includes items scheduled to ship in January of 2004.

You can download the latest Previews catalogs in text-only format here and place your orders online here.

REMEMBER:
Tug (our current New Comics Manager) places store orders much earlier in the month than either Chad, Brett, or Scott did. If you want to be sure you get your items, you must submit your Previews order on time!

Coming Events

Lord of the Rings CCG League meets this Tuesday, November 11 at 4:00pm.

H&D Comic Club meets again on Thursday, November 13 at 7:30pm to discuss Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Columbia Comicon returns to South Carolina from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, November 15. Held at the Super 8 Motel & Conference Center on St. Andrews Road.
